Serving and leading in an unprecedented time for our country

Friends,

These are truly unprecedented times. The widespread impacts of COVID-19 have touched each one of us in ways big and small, and many in our community remain anxious and uncertain about what lies ahead. Here at New Politics, we are taking every suggested precaution to ensure we are safeguarding the health and safety of our communities while charging ahead with the mission to revitalize our democracy.

There has never been a more important time for us to embody our organizational values and to lead with courage and empathy in service of our friends and neighbors. We are so proud of the way our servant leaders have already rallied with their communities to bolster a sense of unity and compassion.

Across the country, leaders are stepping up and responding to the challenges of coronavirus. As a community of servant leaders, your instinct is likely one of action and of looking for ways to help.

What can we do as servant leaders?

In the days ahead, the Leadership Academy will be rolling out “Service Resiliency Circles,” a free program that invites Leadership Academy alumni to support and challenge each other to find new ways to serve through this turbulent moment in our history. The Leadership Academy will also offer “Leading With Purpose” sessions to the general public, allowing anyone connected to the movement to engage in the powerful inner work servant leaders undertake.

Sign up to be the first to know when the Leadership Academy launches programs to organize servant leaders in this unprecedented time.

UPDATE (3/27): We've launched two new programs to help our communities serve and lead in this time of unprecedented change. NPLA alumni are invited to join one of our Service Resiliency Circles. Servant leaders who have not completed NPLA programming before are invited to join Leading with Purpose.

What does this mean for leaders considering the future of their service journey?

Applications for New Politics Leadership Academy’s spring programs close tonight at midnight. As part of our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our community, the Leadership Academy has decided to make all of the Answering the Call programs virtual. ATC has proven to be just as transformational virtually as it is in-person, and minimizing gatherings that might contribute to the spread of coronavirus is the responsible thing to do.

For servant leaders who are considering Staffing School, the Leadership Academy is reevaluating the timing and structure of its programming to ensure the safety of participants, while still delivering a powerful learning experience. We encourage anyone thinking about politics as a way of continuing their service to apply before tonight’s deadline.

Apply to one of our programs before tonight’s deadline to reflect on the next steps in your service journey.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

In service,
