Recently retired from the Air Force, Dan has 27 years of operations and policy leadership experience, specializing in national and international security, strategic partnerships, and the defense acquisition, planning, and budgeting process. He commanded counterinsurgency operations in Afghanistan, served as Deputy Military Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and led an Air Force acquisition portfolio responsible for the modernization and procurement of advanced reconnaissance systems. He is a career Air Force Navigator with over 4,000 flying hours in the RC-135 “Rivet Joint” and E-3A “AWACS.” In addition to his air operations background, Dan served as an Associate Professor in military history at the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds a doctorate in history from the University of Oklahoma with research in the ideological origins of the American Republic. A recent graduate from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, he currently resides in Charlottesville, VA, where he is preparing to return to public service.
